LEI

🏢 Legal Entity Identifiers

Legal Entity Identifiers (LEI) are 20-character codes that identify legal entities participating in financial transactions. Required by G20 mandate for OTC derivatives reporting, LEIs help regulators track systemic risk. The format includes a 4-character Local Operating Unit code, 2-character country code, and 12-character entity identifier with 2 check digits. LEIs must be renewed annually to remain valid.
