Australia's primary securities exchange serving domestic and international markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
The ASX was formed in 1987 through the merger of six state-based exchanges and operates as Australia's only licensed securities exchange. The ASX operates markets for equities, bonds, warrants, and derivatives, with over 2,200 listed entities. The exchange is particularly known for its strong representation of mining and resources companies, reflecting Australia's commodity-rich economy. ASX uses the ASX Trade platform for equities and ASX 24 for derivatives trading. The exchange operates the CHESS settlement system and provides clearing services through ASX Clear and ASX Clear (Futures). Trading hours are 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM AEST, with pre-trading and after-hours sessions available.
